Are you going boating? Then you need to understand some of the important boating essentials to make sure that you’ll have the ultimate boating experience. This list will help you find the best items to bring before stepping into a boat. AS for me, I consider these items as a necessity and I will never step into a boat without completing this list. Now, if you are ready, then let us begin!

  • Boat Registration – if this is your first time boating, then make sure that you always bring a valid boat registration with you at all times. This is an important essential because it proves that you follow the state law regarding the operation of the vessel.
  • First Aid Kit – this is a super important kit to bring with you, not only on boating but also on every outdoor adventure. In addition to that, it is important to check that all items inside the toolkit are intact and is still in their best condition.
  • Safety Equipment – the personal floatation device to be exact. The number of PFDs should be equal to the number of passengers on boat. This is always a must and you should never leave the shore without these.
  • Phone, GPS, Marine Radio and/or other communication devices – always bring these kinds of tools in case of emergency. You never know what could happen in an instant and being able to determine your location and the ability to communicate can be crucial.
  • Fresh Water and Food – no matter how short you’ll spend on the open sea, it is important to be ready for the worst case scenario. Sure there is a very low chance that you can encounter any accidents, but if something happens and you are not prepared, then you are doomed. Remember that prevention is better than cure.
  • Tool Kit – a collection of important tools that you might need in case something gets busted along the way. Before riding your boat, think about the specific tools that you’ll need and be sure to have the prepared, just in case.
  • Sunglasses – a polarized and capable of cutting glare from the water is the perfect one for you.
  • Insect repellant – outdoors equals bugs – protect yourself from scratching by having a reliable insect repellant.
  • Fire extinguisher – this is a requirement on every boat. Be sure to get educated on the proper usage of fire extinguishers to prevent any mishaps.
  • Rain gear – you don’t know when it might rain, so bringing a rain gear is an essential and it will prevent you from getting wet
  • Change of clothing – if it rains, your clothes will get wet. Be sure to have a change of clothing. This is also true if you are going to spend longer times on the boat.
